Hello 👋
My name is Cindy, and I am in love with Los Angeles County. For more than 10 years, I have been exploring the many parks, cultural sites, public programming, and events in the surrounding cities and neighborhoods.
I decided to create City Joys LA because Los Angeles literally has hundreds of locations to explore for free or under $20. Although this site is designed for locals and “implants” (like myself), tourists can also use this website so they can learn more about this county on a low budget.
Why Free or Under $20
There are many things to do in Los Angeles County, period. However, the average Angelino has half of their check go toward rent. In addition, locals have to deal with ridiculous gas prices, food, and utilities hikes. Sure there are welfare programs and unemployment checks, but for the most part, it doesn’t help when you live pay-check to pay-check. I’ve been there, my friends. I’ve been in situations where I had to decide between food or a roof over my head.
That being said, I thought I would dedicate this website to free or low-cost cultural sites, activities, and food joints because who doesn’t like some delicious, budget-friendly grub?
